The Estate
A true synonym of excellence, Alois Lageder over the years has demonstrated the best that South Tyrol is able to express in terms of personality, elegance, territorial adherence. A result of a clear vision of one's work, in which each activity is closely linked to the others in a virtuous circle that has found fulfillment in the conversion of the owned vineyards into biodynamics.
Founded in 1823 and now in its sixth generation, the company stands out for its ability to merge tradition and innovation: "quality is always the result of many details, sometimes even minimal ones - recalls Alois Lageder - and in all stages of processing we first of all try to find harmony between all the factors involved, working in harmony with nature”. It is no coincidence that each wine manages like few others in the region to tell the ever-changing characteristics of its vineyard of origin - Alto Adige is in fact a land extremely rich in the variety of soils, microclimatic zones and exposures, which therefore offers the ideal conditions for producing wines with a marked individuality.
The Wine
The grapes harvested in the vineyards owned by the family, about 50 hectares between Magrè, Cortaccia, Termeno and in the area of Lake Caldaro, are cultivated with organic and biodynamic methods certified by Demeter. Not only that, in addition to managing its own vineyards, the company collaborates with a certain number of trusted winegrowers who come from different areas of Alto Adige, vineyards which overall extend for another 110 hectares, of which about a quarter are cultivated according to the dictates of biodynamics.
It is from this extraordinary context that wines are born that are real ambassadors of the territory, whites and reds of great charm that make up an assortment made up of three quality levels: the Classics, the Terroir Selections, the Masi.
