Itinerary

Chianti Classico is a beautiful area of Tuscany whose rolling hills are covered in vineyards and olive groves. It is dotted with wineries as well as small, picturesque towns. Visitors will enjoy the wineries, medieval-era buildings, and standing churches.⁣

Laura Bianchi, owner of Castello di Monsanto, takes us around Chianti Classico to unfold hidden gems, discover local producers, explore the artisanal side of the area.

Eat & Drink

Locanda di Pietracupa in San Donato in Poggio - it is an inn with a beautiful terrace where there is the most beautiful sunset in the Chianti Classico. You'll find typical Tuscan cuisine with a little twist paired with a beautiful wine list.⁣

Le Panzanelle Restaurant in Loc. Lucarelli, Radda - an excellent typical Tuscan "trattoria"⁣

Arnolfo Restaurant in Colle Val D’Elsa - 2 Michelin Star restaurant. Laura says "When I want to pamper myself a little without going too far, I pick Gaetano Trova's cuisine. The wine list, personally followed by the chef, is fabulous."

Gelateria Dondoli - an exquisite ice cream in San Gimignano.

Macelleria Stiaccini in Castellina in Chianti - Riccardo has a great selection of meat from Tuscan farms and, of course, a fabulous Florentine steak.⁣

Bottega and Enoteca Porciatti in Radda in Chianti - nice selection of wines. Laura says: "I like to go for an aperitif because they have great wines by the glass." In the shop, you can find high quality local gastronomic specialties and excellent Chianina meat.⁣

If you're looking for cheese: Il Vello d'Oro in Barberino val d’Elsa is a small dairy that produces excellent Pecorino only with the milk of their sheep⁣

About local fresh markets, Laura says: "When I have time I love to shop at the market, on Saturday morning in Castellina in Chianti, on Tuesday morning in Poggibonsi."
