Itinerary

Visiting a territory and a "wine" country is always an intimate and exciting experience for those who make this their passion and / or their work. Gabriele from Podere Le Ripi takes us on a tour around the hills of Montalcino. ⁣

Although there is the possibility of arriving by bus in Montalcino, we strongly recommend that you come by car, as to have the necessary freedom to move between the various villages in the area. Once you reach the town, the fortress will welcome you with its incredible visual impact. You can have a stroll down the streets of the historic center, from where you can admire breathtaking views of the Val d’Orcia and the other valleys surrounding the town.

Eat & Drink

Breakfast at the Caffè Fiaschetteria Italiana 1888, in Montalcino, one of the historic places in Italy, where the furnishings and atmosphere will make you relive the times past.⁣⁣

Quick lunch (without ever neglecting the possibility of choosing a good bottle) around Montalcino: Enoteca della Fortezza (within the suggestive walls of the Fortress), La Sosta (in front of the fortress itself) with an excellent selection of natural wines, or le Logge di Piazza, in the historic center.⁣⁣

Trattoria Osenna, in San Quirico d'Orcia,⁣ is definitely a “must eat”.⁣⁣

When in Monticchiello, treat yourself to an aperitif at La Guardiola, just outside the town door, and then have dinner at the Da Daria restaurant.⁣⁣

In Montepulciano, the historic buildings and historic cellars (which still have their headquarters and part of the aging rooms in the city's basement) are scattered around the town. The Contucci winery is one of them, located at the corner of the central square of the town, it will definitely catch your attention. Then take a few tens of minutes to have an aperitif at Caffè Poliziano.
