Introducing Valle Reale

Written by Certa Team

The Italian region of #Abruzzo is the greenest region of Europe, with 36% of its entire surface covered by three national parks, a regional park, and more than thirty nature reserves. Covering more than 65% of the entire region, the mountains are the other trademark of the territory, giving to Abruzzo wines a unique terroir. ⁣

@valle_reale is literally a valley in the middle of these mountains, placed in the spot where the three parks intersect. Considering these characteristics, @valle_reale was a challenging project in terms of viticulture development. Even though Abruzzo is located in the center-south of #Italy, summers and winters here represent both extremes: the heat that is typical of these latitudes of Italy is in sharp contrast with the rigid winter temperatures and the snows that blanket the highest mountain peaks and cover the upland for days on end. ⁣

Wisely run by Leonardo @pizzololeo , @valle_reale is a farm consisting of vineyards and vegetable gardens, where mountain agriculture is practiced daily, always with respect for the delicate natural balance that surrounds it and the old traditions that are still handed down. ⁣

🍇The vineyards grow along a plain that is 350 m above sea level, facing southeast to enjoy the rays of the sun that rises over the Majella National Park and the Morrone Mountains. The total of 46 hectares are certified organic for more than half of the surface area, while the remaining area is undergoing conversion to organic methods. ⁣
📍The vineyards are subdivided into parcels, each marked by a specific cru and identified by names linked to the history of these places that, thanks to their peculiar soil and climatic conditions, paint the highly unique profiles of Valle Reale wines. ⁣
🌦The microclimate here has mountainous traits and is connoted by an element capable of making a crucial impact on the cultivation of the grapes: day-to- night temperature changes. Thanks to these considerable variations in temperature, the grapes conserve their fragrance and freshness during the ripening phase. ⁣
